The love of God is over-the-top to the point of being absurd. God love those we wouldn’t and those we think he shouldn’t. God loves across the boundaries of culture and status. He even loves across the expanse of time. His love brings him close to us and draws us into his presence. His love persists to the point of becoming extravagant. It is active and engaging and provocative. His love can be known, but not fully comprehended. It must be experienced to be understood. It has motivated men and women to change their worlds through acts of compassion and proclamation. It derives from the heart of the one true God who desires, but doesn’t need, an appropriate response. His love extends his character. It is grace-based and just-minded. It will never be mere affection or sentimental attraction. It will never enable or devolve to pity. To be possessed by it is to extend it. We can’t contain it or restrain it. God’s crazy love should drive us to join in his insane proposition to transform of world and our very selves.

In this series, we will explore and seek to experience God’s crazy love. We’ll look at its width (extending out to all people). We’ll look at its length (moving across the surface of time). We’ll look at it height (representing one of the most profound realities). We’ll love at its depth (transforming us deep within). We look and long and listen and hope and pray. We want to love God and experience the depth of his love for us.
